What is the purpose of this test?
The Gastrointestinal (GI) Effects® Comprehensive Stool Profile 3 Day is a thorough test that evaluates the health of your digestive system. Over the course of three days, you collect small samples of your stool and send them to a specialized lab. The lab analyzes these samples to assess how well your body digests food, identify any harmful bacteria, viruses, or parasites, and determine if you have a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria in your gut. Additionally, the test checks for signs of inflammation and evaluates how effectively your body absorbs nutrients from the food you eat.
This comprehensive test is useful for doctors to diagnose the causes of various digestive issues, such as abdominal pain, bloating, gas, constipation, and diarrhea. By closely examining your stool, doctors can detect infections, irritations, and other digestive problems that might be affecting your health. This detailed information helps doctors to create an effective treatment plan tailored to address the specific issues in your digestive system, ultimately helping you feel better and maintain good digestive health.
