What is the purpose of this test?
The TOXDetect Profile is designed to help healthcare practitioners identify harmful environmental toxicants that could be affecting your health. Environmental toxicants are chemicals and substances found in our surroundings that can be harmful to living beings. They can come from sources like industrial pollution, agricultural chemicals, and even everyday products like plastics. Many of these chemicals have not been thoroughly tested for their impact on human health, and exposure to them can contribute to a variety of chronic health issues.
This test helps identify exposure to these toxicants by measuring specific metabolites in the body. By understanding which toxicants you’ve been exposed to, healthcare providers can create a personalized treatment plan focused on detoxification and improving your overall well-being.
The TOXDetect Profile includes the following analytes:
The test measures 19 metabolites that indicate exposure to the following parent compounds:
- Phthalates: Chemicals used in plastics that can affect hormonal balance.
- Xylene: A solvent found in paints, varnishes, and cleaning agents.
- Styrene/Ethylbenzene: Used in the production of plastics and resins.
- Benzene: A carcinogenic compound found in emissions from burning coal, oil, and gasoline.
- Acrylonitrile: Used in manufacturing plastics and synthetic rubber.
- 1-bromopropane: A solvent used in dry cleaning and other industries.
- 1,3 Butadiene: Used in the production of synthetic rubber and plastics.
- Ethylene Oxide, Vinyl Chloride: Used in chemical manufacturing.
- 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid: A common herbicide.
- Pyrethroids: Synthetic insecticides.
- Organophosphates: Pesticides that can affect the nervous system.
- Triphenyl Phosphate: A flame retardant found in electronics and plastics.
- Acrylamide: Found in fried and baked foods.
- Perchlorate: A chemical used in explosives and rocket propellant.
- Bisphenol S: A chemical used in plastics as a substitute for Bisphenol A (BPA).
