What is the purpose of this test?
The Sodium Urine Test, 24-Hour, measures the level of sodium excreted in urine over a 24-hour period, helping to assess how well the kidneys are filtering sodium. This test is often used to evaluate kidney function, hydration status, and electrolyte balance, as well as detect abnormalities related to the body's sodium levels.
Abnormal sodium levels can be indicative of various medical conditions, including kidney disease, dehydration, or adrenal disorders. The 24-hour collection period provides a more accurate measurement of sodium excretion, allowing healthcare providers to gain a better understanding of the body's ability to regulate sodium and maintain proper fluid balance.

- Those with suspected kidney disorders or kidney disease
- Individuals who are experiencing dehydration or unusual fluid retention
