What is the purpose of this test?

The Microbiology Test, Stool - Mosaic Diagnostics Test Kit is designed to analyze the balance of microorganisms in your digestive system, helping healthcare providers understand your gut health. It identifies both beneficial bacteria and potentially harmful bacteria, including Clostridium species, as well as yeast, fungi, and other pathogens that may be affecting your gastrointestinal health. This test is particularly useful for detecting microbial imbalances, or dysbiosis, which can contribute to chronic conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food sensitivities, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Additionally, antimicrobial susceptibility testing is performed to identify the most effective treatments for bacterial and fungal infections, using both pharmaceutical and natural options.

This test may be recommended as a follow-up to the Comprehensive Stool Analysis when looking for specific abnormalities, monitoring microbial balances, or assessing the effectiveness of a treatment plan. It helps healthcare providers gather more detailed insights into gastrointestinal function, track improvements, or pinpoint any remaining issues. The test includes detailed information on bacterial and yeast cultures, making it an important tool for managing chronic digestive problems and supporting overall health.

The Microbiology Test, Stool - Mosaic Diagnostics Test Kit includes:

  • Bacterial Culture: Identifies 73 possible species of imbalanced and dysbiotic bacteria and 4 species of beneficial bacteria.
  • Bacterial Sensitivity Testing: Tests bacteria for sensitivity to multiple antibiotics and natural agents such as Augmentin, Ciprofloxacin, Berberine, Black Walnut, and more.
  • Yeast (Mycology) Culture: Identifies 48 possible yeast and fungal species.
  • Yeast Sensitivity Testing: Includes sensitivity testing for yeast to various agents, including Nystatin, Fluconazole, Berberine, Oregano, and others.
  • Yeast Microscopy: Detects visible presence of yeast cells.
