What is the purpose of this test?

The Microbial Organic Acids Test (MOAT) - Mosaic Diagnostics Test Kit helps identify microbial imbalances in the body by measuring 21 organic acids in urine. This test is particularly valuable for people who may have an overgrowth of harmful bacteria, yeast, or fungi, which can lead to symptoms like digestive issues, fatigue, and even mood changes. By analyzing specific markers for these microbes, the MOAT provides insight into how these imbalances may be affecting overall health and energy.

The MOAT test is also designed to act as a follow-up to the Organic Acids Test (OAT) for people needing more targeted information on microbial activity in the gut. It includes markers for beneficial bacteria, harmful bacteria, Clostridia species (a common group of bacteria linked to gut health issues), and Candida, a type of yeast. This allows individuals and healthcare providers to address potential dysbiosis, or microbial imbalances, and make informed choices on diet, supplements, or other treatments.

Microbial Organic Acids Test (MOAT) - Mosaic Diagnostics Test Kit includes:

  • 21 Organic Acids: Citramalic Acid, 5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furoic Acid, 3-Oxoglutaric Acid, Furan-2,5-dicarboxylic Acid, Furancarbonylglycine, Tartaric Acid, Arabinose, Carboxycitric Acid, Tricarballylic Acid, 2-Hydroxyphenylacetic Acid, 4-Hydroxyphenylacetic Acid, 4-Hydroxybenzoic Acid, 4-Hydroxyhippuric Acid, Hippuric Acid, 3-Indoleacetic Acid, 3-OH-3-Methylglutaric Acid (Vitamin Q10/CoQ10), 2-Hydroxyhippuric Acid, and Creatinine.
  • Special Markers:
    • Clostridia species: HPHPA, 4-Cresol (C. difficile)
    • Beneficial Bacteria: DHPPA
    • Fungal/Yeast Metabolites: Tartaric Acid, Arabinose

Who should get this test?

  • People with digestive issues, such as bloating, gas, or discomfort.
  • Individuals who experience frequent fatigue or low energy.
  • Those with mood swings or mental health symptoms that may be linked to gut health.
  • Individuals with a known or suspected history of Candida or yeast overgrowth.
  • People who have previously completed an Organic Acids Test (OAT) and need further insights.
  • Those with a history of antibiotic use, which may have impacted their gut bacteria balance.

Benefits of the Microbial Organic Acids Test (MOAT) - Mosaic Diagnostics Test Kit:

  1. Targeted microbial analysis – Detects specific markers for harmful bacteria, Clostridia species, Candida, and yeast to assess microbial imbalances in the gut.
  2. Detailed dysbiosis assessment – Measures 21 organic acids to provide insight into gut health, beneficial bacteria levels, and microbial activity.
  3. Convenient testing – Requires a simple, easy-to-collect urine sample for non-invasive analysis.
  4. Customized health guidance – Offers personalized data to help create targeted dietary and supplement plans.
  5. Enhanced gut health insights – Builds on the Organic Acids Test (OAT) results to provide a more comprehensive view of microbial health.
