What is the purpose of this test?

The LetsGetChecked - Female Hormone Blood Spot Test Kit is a comprehensive test designed to measure the levels of female hormones in a woman's body. The test checks for the levels of four important hormones - estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). These hormones play a vital role in a woman's reproductive system and overall health.

The test is designed to help identify any hormonal imbalances that may be causing issues such as irregular periods, infertility, mood swings, weight gain, acne, and other symptoms. By measuring the levels of these hormones, it can provide insight into the underlying causes of these issues.

The LetsGetChecked - Female Hormone Blood Spot Test Kit is a convenient at-home blood test that can be done quickly and easily. The test kit includes everything needed to collect a small blood sample from the fingertip. Once the sample is collected, it can be mailed back to the LetsGetChecked lab using the prepaid shipping label. The sample will be processed in a CLIA-certified lab, and the results will be available online within 2-5 days.

The results include a detailed report explaining the hormone levels and providing guidance on improving any imbalances. The report can help women better understand their reproductive health and make informed decisions about their overall wellness.

The LetsGetChecked - Female Hormone Blood Spot Test Kit measures the following:

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) - Follicle Stimulating Hormone is responsible for stimulating the growth of egg-bearing follicles in your ovaries.

Luteinizing Hormone (LH) - Luteinizing Hormone is responsible for ovulation. It works in conjunction with follicle stimulating hormone to trigger the release of the egg.

Prolactin - Prolactin is a hormone made in your pituitary gland and plays many important roles in the body, including in breast tissue development and breast milk production.

Estradiol - Estradiol is the main form of estrogen and has many important functions, especially in the menstrual cycle. It contributes to the maturation and release of eggs and thickens the lining of the uterus in preparation for implantation.

Benefits of the LetsGetChecked - Female Hormone Blood Spot Test Kit:

  1. Hormonal Balance Assessment: The test can help assess the levels of various hormones, including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. This information is crucial for understanding hormonal balance, which plays a significant role in menstrual cycles, fertility, and overall reproductive health.
  2. Menstrual Cycle Monitoring: Testing female hormones can provide insights into the different phases of the menstrual cycle. It may help identify irregularities, ovulation patterns, and potential issues affecting the menstrual cycle.
  3. Fertility Evaluation: For women trying to conceive, monitoring female hormones is essential. Imbalances in estrogen and progesterone, for example, can impact fertility, and testing can help identify potential issues.
  4. Menopausal Health: Hormone levels change during menopause, and testing can help assess the transition and guide decisions regarding hormone replacement therapy if needed.
  5. Identification of Hormonal Disorders: Abnormalities in hormone levels may be indicative of hormonal disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid dysfunction. Testing can help identify these conditions and guide appropriate treatment.
  6. Management of Menstrual Irregularities: Women experiencing irregular menstrual cycles, heavy or painful periods, or other menstrual irregularities may benefit from hormone testing to identify potential hormonal imbalances.
