What is the purpose of this test?

The Hepatic Detox Profile, Urine - Doctor's Data Test Kit helps assess the body's ability to process and eliminate toxins through liver detoxification pathways. The liver plays a crucial role in breaking down harmful substances, including chemicals, pesticides, and pollutants, through two phases of detoxification. Phase I detoxification transforms these toxins into intermediate compounds, while Phase II further processes them into a form that can be safely excreted. This test measures two key markers—D-glucaric acid and mercapturic acids—to provide insight into chemical exposure and the liver's detoxification capacity.

By identifying imbalances in detoxification pathways, this test can help uncover potential toxic exposures, liver dysfunction, or reduced detoxification efficiency. Many individuals experience chronic symptoms related to toxin accumulation before significant health issues develop. This non-invasive urine test provides valuable data that can guide personalized detoxification strategies, supporting overall health and reducing the risk of toxin-related conditions.

The Hepatic Detox Profile, Urine - Doctor's Data Test Kit includes:

  • D-glucaric acid: A byproduct of Phase I detoxification that indicates exposure to over 200 environmental chemicals, including pesticides, petrochemicals, and industrial toxins.
  • Mercapturic acids: Final excretory products of Phase II detoxification, showing how efficiently the body neutralizes and eliminates harmful substances. Low levels may suggest poor glutathione activity, which can lead to toxic buildup and nutrient depletion.

Who should get this test?

  • Individuals with known or suspected exposure to environmental toxins, pesticides, or chemicals
  • Those experiencing unexplained fatigue, headaches, or chronic illness that may be linked to toxin buildup
  • People with chemical sensitivities or difficulty tolerating certain medications or household products
  • Individuals undergoing detoxification therapy who want to assess liver function and toxin elimination
  • Those with a family history of liver dysfunction or toxin-related health issues
  • Anyone looking to optimize their body's natural detoxification processes

Benefits of the Hepatic Detox Profile, Urine - Doctor's Data Test Kit:

  1. Identifies Chemical Exposure: Measures markers that indicate the body's exposure to environmental toxins and chemicals.
  2. Assesses Liver Detox Function: Evaluates the efficiency of both Phase I and Phase II detoxification pathways.
  3. Supports Personalized Detox Plans: Helps tailor detoxification strategies based on individual toxin elimination capacity.
  4. Monitors Nutrient Status: Low mercapturic acid levels may indicate glutathione depletion, guiding nutritional support needs.
  5. Non-Invasive Testing: Requires only a simple first-morning urine sample for easy and convenient collection.
  6. Early Detection of Detoxification Imbalances: Helps identify potential toxin buildup before significant health issues arise.
  7. Useful for Detox Programs: Beneficial for individuals undergoing detox treatments to monitor effectiveness and adjust protocols as needed.

Specimen:

Urine

Preparation:

Ship specimens Monday through Friday to avoid delays. Carefully read all instructions and review the collection procedures before starting. This test requires a first morning urine sample and has no special dietary restrictions. If taking sulfur-containing medications or supplements (e.g., DMSA, DMPS, MSM), complete the course and wait 4 days before collecting your sample. Certain medications, including barbiturates, tranquilizers, digoxin, quinidine, and alcohol, may elevate D-glucaric acid levels. Avoid non-essential medications, supplements, and alcohol for 72 hours before and during collection unless directed otherwise by your physician. Do not discontinue prescription medications without consulting your doctor. Female patients should avoid collecting urine during menstruation.

Test Results:

5-7 business days once the lab receives the specimen. May take longer based on weather, holiday, or lab delays.
