What is the purpose of this test?
The Comprehensive Parasitology Profile (CP) Random, Stool - Genova Test Kit is designed to identify hidden parasitic infections and microbial imbalances that may contribute to acute or chronic health conditions. Many people assume that parasitic infections only come from traveling to developing countries or outdoor activities like camping, but due to global travel, daycare centers, and increased immigration, anyone can be susceptible. Parasites such as Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium, and Blastocystis hominis can cause digestive problems, fatigue, and other health issues, making early detection crucial.
This test uses advanced laboratory techniques, including trichrome staining, computer-enhanced microscopy, and enzyme immunoassays, to accurately detect a wide range of intestinal parasites. By identifying these infections, healthcare providers can develop targeted treatment plans to help restore gut balance, improve digestion, and resolve systemic symptoms. Understanding the role of parasites in gastrointestinal and overall health can lead to more effective interventions and improved long-term well-being.
Who should get this test?
- Individuals experiencing chronic or unexplained digestive issues such as diarrhea, bloating, or abdominal pain.
- People who have recently traveled internationally or been exposed to potentially contaminated water or food.
- Those suffering from persistent fatigue, unexplained weight loss, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Individuals with autoimmune conditions, reactive arthritis, or chronic inflammation.
- People with skin issues like urticaria (hives) or unexplained rashes.
- Immunocompromised individuals who may be more susceptible to infections.
- Those with long-term constipation or irregular bowel movements.
- Anyone looking for a comprehensive analysis of gut health and potential infections.

- Uses advanced testing methods – Incorporates computer-enhanced microscopy, trichrome staining, and enzyme immunoassays for accurate detection.
- Improves gut health insights – Helps determine if a parasitic infection is contributing to gastrointestinal discomfort and other symptoms.
- Supports targeted treatment plans – Provides precise identification of parasites to guide effective treatment and intervention strategies.
- Reveals systemic health impacts – Highlights connections between parasitic infections and conditions like chronic fatigue, asthma, and reactive arthritis.
- Enhances awareness of infections – Increases detection rates through optimized parasite recovery techniques, ensuring better diagnosis.
- Non-invasive and easy to use – Requires only a stool sample, making it convenient for at-home collection.
- Aids in managing chronic symptoms – Useful for those with persistent digestive issues, inflammation, or unexplained symptoms linked to microbial imbalances.
Sample ReportPreparation:No fasting is required. Ship to lab Monday-Thursday only. Please read all of the directions and the collection procedures prior to starting test. The following are interfering substances and should be discontinued: bentonite clay, castor oil, mineral oil, rectal suppositories. If taking antibiotics, antifungals, beneficial flora supplements (acidophilus, etc.) or consuming food products containing beneficial flora (e.g. Activia®) it is recommended that you wait at least 14 days after your last dose before beginning the test. Check with physician before stopping medications. Eat your usual diet during the 2 -3 days prior to stool collection.
Test Results:
14-16 days once the lab receives the specimen. May take longer based on weather, holiday, or lab delays. At this time, the lab is experiencing delays, which could add 3 days to the normal turnaround time for results.
