What is the purpose of this test?
The FindWhy DNA Weight Control Profile - Doctor's Data Test Kit helps individuals understand how their genetics may influence weight management. This test analyzes specific DNA variations, known as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which are linked to appetite regulation, fat metabolism, and energy storage. While this is not a diagnostic test or a guaranteed weight-loss solution, it provides valuable insights into genetic predispositions that may make weight management more challenging. By identifying these genetic factors, individuals can tailor their weight control strategies to work with their unique biology rather than against it.
Obesity and weight-related health issues are influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Some people may be more prone to overeating, storing excess fat, or having a lower metabolism due to their genetic makeup. This test helps individuals recognize their genetic tendencies and adjust their diet and lifestyle to mitigate potential risks. Understanding these genetic markers can help create a more effective and sustainable weight management plan that supports long-term health.
The FindWhy DNA Weight Control Profile - Doctor's Data Test Kit includes:
- ADRB2-E27Q: This gene affects how the body responds to adrenaline, impacting fat metabolism and energy use.
- FABP2-T55A: Influences the body's ability to absorb and transport dietary fats, which can affect weight gain and energy balance.
- FTO: Often called the "fat mass and obesity-associated gene," it is linked to appetite regulation and an increased risk of obesity.
- MC4R: Plays a crucial role in hunger and satiety signals, affecting overall calorie intake and weight management.
- SH2B1: Involved in insulin and leptin signaling, which influence metabolism, appetite control, and fat storage.

Sample ReportPreparation:Ship test kits to the lab Monday-Thursday only to avoid delays. Before collecting your sample, rinse your mouth with cold water. Each kit includes two paper sleeves, each containing two swabs, for a total of four swabs. Collect one swab at a time, rubbing it against the inside of your cheek in a circular motion about 20 times with enough pressure to push the cheek outward. Allow each swab to air dry for three minutes before placing it back in the sleeve. Repeat the process using the second swab on the same cheek, then use the second sleeve to repeat the procedure on the other cheek. Once all four swabs are collected and dried, place them in the provided paper envelope along with the completed Requisition and Consent Forms. Do not store swabs in a plastic bag.
Test Results:
7-14 business days once the lab receives the specimen. May take longer based on weather, holiday, or lab delays.
