Preparation:

Ship specimens Monday through Thursday to prevent delays. Carefully review all instructions and collection procedures before starting. Patients should consult their healthcare practitioner before discontinuing any medications or supplements. This test should not be completed if taking certain drugs, including antibiotics, antiparasitics, antifungals, probiotics, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), or bismuth within two weeks prior. Additionally, the test should not be taken within 48 hours of using aspirin, NSAIDs, digestive enzymes, mineral oil, laxatives, iron supplements, activated charcoal, or antacids. Patients should wait at least 4 weeks after a colonoscopy or barium enema, and avoid sample collection during menstruation or active hemorrhoid bleeding. Samples should be collected on two different days, at least 12 hours apart, and shipped within five days, preferably starting on a weekend.

Test Results:

7-14 business days once received at lab. May take longer based on weather, holiday, or lab delays.
