What is the purpose of this test?

The Quest Diagnostics Cardio IQ® Lipid Panel Blood Test is a highly informative blood test designed to assess a person's risk for developing heart disease. It is a comprehensive test that measures various lipid parameters in the blood, including LDL (bad) cholesterol, HDL (good) cholesterol, and triglycerides. Additionally, the test can detect other types of lipids, such as lipoprotein(a) and apolipoprotein B, which may play a role in the development of heart disease.

This advanced lipid testing is performed using specialized equipment and techniques that provide detailed information about a person's lipid profile and overall cardiovascular health. The test results can help healthcare providers develop personalized treatment plans to reduce the risk of heart disease. For example, if a person has high LDL cholesterol levels, they may be advised to make lifestyle changes such as improving their diet or increasing their physical activity. In some cases, medication may also be recommended to help lower cholesterol levels.

Overall, the Quest Diagnostics Cardio IQ® Lipid Panel Blood Test is a vital tool in assessing a person's risk for heart disease and can provide valuable information to help prevent or manage this condition.
