The NMR LipoProfile test is an advanced cardiovascular diagnostic test that uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to provide rapid, simultaneous and direct measurement of LDL particle number and size of LDL particles, and also direct measurement of HDL subclasses. This detailed lipoprotein particle information allows health professionals to make more effective individualized treatment decisions than previously possible based on standard lipid panel testing. The atherosclerotic culprit not LDL cholesterol, but LDL particle number.

Why should you take the NMR LipoProfile® test?

You should take the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance or NMR LipoProfile® test because it provides a more accurate picture of cardiovascular (CVD) risk than the standard lipid panel. Each year, heart attacks kill more than 8 times as many women than breast cancer and 15 times as many men than prostate cancer. According to a major study, 50% of the people who suffered a heart attack had normal cholesterol levels. If your cholesterol is normal, being lowered by treatments like diet, exercise, or medication; or you have any of the conditions listed below, the NMR LipoProfle test may be right for you:

  • Diabetes
  • Previous heart attack
  • Family history of heart attack
  • High blood pressure
  • Overweight/Obesity
  • Cardiometabolic risk
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Low HDL (dyslipidemia)
  • High triglycerides
